Social media Empty Social media

Post by Admin Sat Jan 14, 2017 10:04 am

My relationship with social media has its ups and downs. I like Facebook for personal stuff. I went through a phase of Twitter love and now I rarely go there. I don't understand Instagram (just pictures?). And Pinterest seems like I would never leave so I have stayed away. But, realistically I should be using all the social media channels to promote my work.

One thing that puzzles me is the best methods for toggling between personal and business accounts. I know how to do it on Facebook. I've just gotten started with Tweetdeck for Twitter. But Instagram and Pinterest still have me scratching my head. Really, I wish that all of these networks were integrated into some monolith social media platform so we could all stop bouncing around so much.

Perhaps someone can enlighten on the value of the different networks and how best to use/manage them all?

I personally think Facebook is best used for promotion. The advertising system is very userfriendly and often gains a lot of audience.
Twitter I would use more for engagement with the audience as you can't really write a lot of words.

I'm just as clueless as you are when it comes to Instagram.

I'm still trying to figure out how Pinterest works too. I've managed to see a lot of volume in pins that I've pinned from someone else but not in the pins that I've personally created so I will be following this thread for more information.

Yes that is what I've noticed about Twitter. I keep rewriting tweets trying to fit them in 140 characters. Gets a bit frustrating.

I think that social media can be really great to promote your work. I've done that before and I want to say that it did help out.

I have a love-hate relationship with my social media.

Facebook, I don't really like. My personal one I don't visit anymore because the family I want to stay in contact with all live withi walking distance of me, and the people on there I don't really know (high school friends) I don't really care to know. My business one I only really update once a day and that's about it.

For twitter I have a fun one for just cutting loose and retweeting silly thigns, and one for business. the business one rarely see's any engagement, even though I work on it at least 2 hours a day, while the fun silly one has almost 6k followers and all I do is retween funnier people, and cats.

I tried to use tumblr, but the interface was a little tough to grasp, so I never got into it.

I like social media, but I also like not putting major effort into it.

I've started a Facebook page for Global Home Office but so far it's a bit of a ghost town. I have a page that I maintain for my site at Verywell.com about social anxiety disorder which has almost 4000 followers - but I can't seem to remember how I got the ball rolling! I think you are right, people like simple and funny instead of more serious stuff.
