Holidays when working from home Empty Holidays when working from home

How do you schedule your holidays when you work from home? Do you follow the business norms and take a holiday for a week around christmas, easter etc?

I enjoy the benefit of being able to plan my own hours as a freelancer. I take a holiday whenever my fiancé, a postman, can get one. Unfortunately, bringing around the mail has to be done every single week of the year so he rarely gets a whole week off.

That's funny, I do the same thing mostly. I schedule my holidays around when my kids are on holidays, so Christmas, March Break etc. I am fortunate in that the one company I work for has multiple editors so there is always someone there when I am not. The other company I write for operates on a monthly schedule, so I could technically get all my work done in the first few days of the month and take the rest of the month off.

I like to take random days off and just go do something crazy. Helps to blow off steam and be refreshed when I have to go back to work.

I try to take off the Holidays. I want to make sure that I can hang out with my family so I will make sure that I am caught up on the work that I have.

Sundays are my off days usually.

For holidays, I schedule the day before, the day of, and the day after a holiday as "me" time for relaxing. Mostly because I'm having to deal with a lot of family on the day of the holiday, and I need to time to prepare, and time to relax, afterwards

How smart, taking off the days before and after. I seem to always be working up to the last minute.

I make sure to book my holidays off for myself well in advance. I'm taking a weeklong holiday soon and plan to enjoy every minute of it.

It was a really good vacation. I ended up at a place I have been several times before but did a few activities that I did not expect and that was the highlight of the trip. Its about the people your with that make it worthwhile.

Sounds like you had a nice time. It's always better going on vacation with the right person.

I schedule holidays when I need to have time off be it for personal reasons or if I am overbooked with work. I do maybe 4 VKs a year that last about 10 days each. I don't like to take them unless I absolutely have to. Sometimes I will take a longer weekend if I have an event to go to that is out of town but I can usually work along side my lackluster schedule haha

That is very healthy to take 10 days off. I have always wanted to but always seem that I hoard my vacation time into smaller chunks. I've found I'm more of a long weekender or day here or day there type of person.

There is nothing more satisfying than taking some time off and spending with that special person in your life. A day spent with the right person is much better than a week without that person.
